Tips to Schedule a Workout into A Busy Schedule

Let’s just cut to the chase since we are all SO BUSY!

Set the same inspiration as you were when on holidays.

Were you in Bali when you woke up to run along the beach? Then, set your alarm to play a Balinese music. It will sure take you back and uplift your spirits to wake up!

Were you in Paris running along the streets with your best gear? Invest in awesome workout gear to get yourself motivated. Don’t we all take extra efforts to dress better when on holiday. Manifest the same attitude!

Did we mention Under Armour is having a massive GSS? Run for it!

Create a Vision Board of your #fitnessgoals

The power of vision boards can be attested by millions. You have images of the goals you want to accomplish and by placing it in a strategic location where you can take a look at it every moment compels you to take actions. Those actions will drive you to attaining your goals in no time!

So start cutting up images of the workout apparels you want to own, the #bodygoals you want to achieve or even the marathon/ mountain you want to conquer! Pin it up in your wardrobe (somewhere that can’t escape your eyes) and wait for the magic to unfold!

Reward yourself every 21 Days.

It takes 21 days to form a habit. Change up your workouts every 21 days and at the end of it, reward yourself with something you will really look forward to. Once you identify a workout that you will like to start on, decide on a reward. Spa, Gold Class movie, Hair Treatment or even immersing yourself in retail therapy etc

Start scheduling as such in your calendar.

1st July - 21 days to Spa #yoga, 2nd July - 20 days to Spa #zumba, 3rd July - 19 days to Spa #weights etc

We will love to hear if you manage to nail down any of those tips successfully!

A Guide to Nutrition by Lavania

Do you struggle during your workouts or feel faint? Then it could be that you do not have the right nutrition in your body.

Take me for example, my laborious days start with a lack of sleep from breastfeeding a baby throughout the night, bathe him and play with him and feed him during the day. During his nap times, I try to finish my work (emails, timesheets, updating social media, running errands, preparing food for the day etc the list is endless). Then there are classes that I conduct that are also labour intensive.

So what kind of food and drink do I thrive on? My mornings start with a protein shake blended with a non dairy milk for easier digestion as compared to hormone/ preservative filled milk. Note that there are many protein shakes in the market and trust me, I have tried many! I love my Juice Plus Complete Shake because it’s made of pea protein and not whey protein, so you can be assured that you will not put on weight or get breakouts from the whey. It’s also so versatile that it goes along with any kinds of blend. Fruits, vegetables, etc

Safe for kids consumption too!

And for breakfast, IF, the little one allows me, I have my smoothie bowl. It’s packed with nutrients and oh so yummy. A blend of yoghurt with mangoes and topped up with granola, açai and more mangoes for added goodness, yumminess and protein! This can be prepared the night before to save time in the morning. You can also try blending it with strawberries, bananas, blueberries etc. Get creative!

Lunch is mostly at home and it’s usually a portion of carbs to fuel my high energy lifestyle. I meal plan for the week to ensure that I do not waste time on a daily basis to plan what I eat and same goes for dinner. We do not stick to just one type of meal. With our handy thermomix, the list of options for food is endless and shaves off a significant amount of time in preparation and cooking.

However, I supplement my diet with at least 10 cups of fruits and vegetables with Juice Plus supplements. I have been taking these for almost 2 years now, even when I was pregnant. They have been juiced and pressed into vegan capsules and there’s no need for caffeine as this keeps you going fresh for hours! Knowing that you consume food with the freshest and cleanest ingredients makes you feel good too!

And if I really need a snack in between (no thanks to my sweet tooth), handy juiceplus snack bars are divine! Perfect for pre and post workout snacks!

The Venue: Australian International School

After last year’s fantastic event, we are thrilled to return to Australian International Schooland their fantastic venue, The Hive. The only Southern Hemisphere school in Singapore, AIS offers an Australian curriculum-based global education for students from 2 months all the way up to 18 years of age. It all starts with AIS’s remarkable Early Learning Village, which is home to its Infant Care, Early Years and Prep students, all thoroughly designed with young learners in mind to provide a Reggio Emilia-inspired environment that truly supports each child’s learning journey.

Food by Kiss My Pans, Blue Label & Family Favourites

Get ready for an amazing 1.8 metre grazing table featuring a variety of artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fruit, dips and relishes (along with gourmet bread and crackers), all courtesy of Kiss My Pans. Founder Jeanne loves both cooking and hosting, and with a keen eye for aesthetics and a discerning palate, she loves creating centerpieces of edible art!

If you’ve got more of a sweet tooth, be sure to save room for the legendary chocolate chip cookies from Luke’s (one of our fave date night spots with locations at Gemmill Lane and Orchard)!

Last year we were delighted by the release of Family Favourites, a cookbook showcasing popular recipes from four foodie helpers (with an assist from leading food stylists Trisha Toh and Zara Salahuddin, and designer Anouk van der El). All these fabulous ladies behind Family Favourites will be on hand to offer a selection of cakes, muffins, and all things sweet (all based on recipes from the book, naturally). You’ll also have a chance to purchase a copy to treasure at home!

Speaking of cookbooks, we are such huge fans of A Helping Handwhich was written by Singapore mama (and former BBC editor) Rowena “Frog” Michaels with recipes in both English and Tagalog. We’ll have copies of the cookbook on sale at the event, along with a chance to WIN a copy of the cookbook during our raffle!

Entertainment for Helpers

We’ll kick things off with live band Chris & Diana, who have performed individually around the world, and together at live music venues all over Singapore.

Back by popular demand, Lavania’s team from Dance Embassy will lead the crowd in irresistibly fun Bollywood dancing. Next up, Grace from Rhythm in Me is sure to get kiddos and adults alike moving with her signature combination of singing and dancing.

If helpers want to relax and pamper themselves a bit, they can get a complimentary manicure from Nodspark, ingenious temporary nail wraps created by Singapore mama Eugenia Yeo for busy women who don’t have the time to wait for their nails to dry! Affordable, easy, and fun, Nodspark nail wraps have a professional finish and last up to 10 days.

Just like last year, we’ll also be offering helpers free makeovers from professional makeup artists PowderwowderJennifer G Chua MUA and Suha Haris. We’ll also have a photo booth and a roving Sassy Mama photographer to ensure they can capture their glammed up, gorgeous selves!

Entertainment for Kids

We know it’ll be hard keeping kids away from the cookie table, but if anyone can do it it’s the team from Camp Magic, who’ll have an exciting array of circus activities including hula hooping, poi spinning, stilt walking and juggling!

Kiddos can also get creative by making and painting 3D cards for their helpers at the Little Artists art table. Under the guidance of Specialist Teachers, each card will be individualized to the tastes of each child and presented to their helper.

Finally, our fun friends at PartyMojo will return once again for face painting, glitter and henna tattoos, and hair braiding. We also heard a rumour that they’ll be bringing their popcorn machine back again, too…

Shahid Kapoor ft Dance Embassy

It was an honour to be invited by a reputable brand like Madame Tussauds, especially to be part of a big milestone for a Bollywood Actor. We unveiled Shahid Kapoor’s wax statue in Madame Tussauds Singapore by belting out moves to one of his hits, Dhan Te Nan from Kaminey.
